Many years ago we cared for my sister's Irish Setter for one year while she lived in Europe. It is too long ago to have records. I am willing to provide her name as a reference if that would further my chances of adopting a rescue dog. Because we both worked full time and traveled a lot right after retirement, we did not believe that it was wise to leave a dog alone for so many hours a day. Now we are home 24/7 and would like to share our lives with a rescue dog. We do have vet records of careful and loving care for a rescue cat for 14 years, including for 1 1/2 years after he he suffered a stroke.
Thank you for the comment. Yes, we aware of any cross breed labrador doodle is still going to have some allergy issues, but they don't shed and that's a big factor in why my wife and I are excited to pursue our next family member.
Good morning! No allergy issues besides sometimes environmental. I had one older cat that would sometimes make my eyes itch if I rubbed them right after petting him but realizing not to do that and taking loratidine has alieved that :) I have never had any issues with any type of canine friend.
Thank you so much for all the wonderful information and the warm welcome to the group! I just completed and submitted my application and am praying that somewhere there is a doodle for which I could provide a safe, loving, forever home. God bless you for everything you do for doodles in need, and thank you for considering my application.
I'm not. I've been wanting a doodle for several years and planned on getting one as our next dog. A year ago we had to put our dog down, when he developed a very aggressive and painful form of cancer. Nothing could be done for him. The oncologist told us it was the worst form of cancer for a dog. I was waiting until after a planned, long vacation scheduled for May, but of course that was cancelled, so I've started my search now.
I understand about the allergies and shedding. Our Terrior shed and was not hypoallergenic. I'm just trying to avoid the massive amounts that Labs and Goldens shed, but it's not a huge issue, just a preference. What's more important to me is their personality--having one that will cuddle, run, and play ball.
Hi guys, I tried applying but said I need to apply again because I’m out of state and the vets aren’t spaying/neutering at the moment. Do I have to apply again? Or is my application already in the system? I wasn’t applying for a particular dog, I just wanted to be in your guys system. Thank you, Helen
