I just got a really great email from Lucy's (now Jenny) new family. She is doing really great and they love her so much! Paul wrote me that she is the PERFECT DOG for their family and that they feel so lucky to have her! He wanted me to thank DRC for saving her life.

Since Lucy and Abby were my first fosters for DRC, some of you might not know their story...

Abby and Lucy were used as breeders for a backyard breeder making $$ off of the fad of labradoodles. When Abby got a facial abcess and got really sick, the BYB dumped them on Craigslist. A good samaritan and doodle lover paid the BYB $100 for the two sisters to get them out of their horrible situation. She then realized that Abby was terribly sick and couldn't afford the vet bills necessary to get Abby well. So, the good samaritan re-posted them on Craigslist looking for a rescue to help her.

That's where DRC came in. I went and picked up the two doodle sisters and rushed them to the emergency hospital to get them the care they needed. Abby needed surgery and they both had raging ear infections, fleas, staph infections and were greatly underweight.

After nursing them back to health...Lucy was adopted first to a wonderful family in Grapevine Texas. Abby was then adopted to a wonderful family in Houston. Both girls are thriving. It makes me so proud to have had a small part in their recovery and adoption.

I am thrilled when I hear from families that have adopted a doodle that I've fostered. Here is an updated picture of Lucy sent to me by her family today...

Yay for Jenny!!! And she's in Grapevine, my father's hometown - going there to visit family/friends in a month for Thanksgiving. Too bad I can't meet them :)
