Chewing problem

I may have a problem with my adopted dog, Hilda. She apparently likes to chew on too many things. She got one of my slippers a couple days ago but I caught her before she did any damage. Then this…Continue

Tell us about yourself and how we might help you:
My family just adopted MS-Hilda. We picked her up yesterday so she has been with us 24 hours now. She is a delightful dog and is going to be a wonderful addition to our family. I want to be able to stay in contact with Hilda's foster family as they had become very attached to Hilda while staying with them. I can certainly understand it. In the short 24 hours Hilda has been here, she has already touched our hearts.
Do you currently own a dog? If not, have you owned dogs as an adult, with vet records in your own name (not parents' names)?
HIlda was listed as a poodle - labrador mix. But talking with my vet, we think she is more likely a poodle - Schnauzer mix. She may be a mix of several breeds. It's hard to know. She clearly has had a hard life until she came to her foster family and now to us. She has a wonderful personality and with time will leave her fears behind and become part of a very loving, supportive family. More as time goes by...
Have you read our adoption policies, located under the "About DRC" tab?
We chose a doodle because we need a low allergen type dog. Also we prefer smart dogs, they fit our family lifestyle better.
Are you now involved in Rescue? If so, how? Are you interested in volunteering with our rescue?

1 month update on Hilda

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 12:17pm 2 Comments

It's been one month since we got Hilda. She now feels like she's been part of our family for ages... not just one month.... She is adapting very well to our lifestyle. She knows when I go to work, when the girls are coming home, when everyone gets home, etc. She listens well and learns really quickly.

I think the chewing problem is curtailed. We are in the process of checking this, so far she has been passing with flying colors. We are taking this a little slow as we don't want to… Continue

She does like to chew so that's why I kept rawhide bones around the house. I worked with her on shaking but not sitting. She is a very smart girl! I am so glad everyone loves her! That makes me feel better!! Keep in touch!

Congratulations on your new baby, David!
It would be nice if Hilda is a schnoodle. My first dog was a schnoodle, and she was the best dog I ever had. But either way, i know she will bring great joy to your family for many years! Thank you for adopting her and giving her a great life!
