Profile Information

Where are you located?
Nanaimo, B.C. Canada (on Vancouver Island)
Tell us about yourself and how we might help you:
Retired RN, lives with husband . Looking for an adult doodle to love.
Do you currently own a dog? If not, have you owned dogs as an adult, with vet records in your own name (not parents' names)?
We currently have an 11 yr old rescue dog. He is a Westie cross, around 25 lbs.
An 8 yr old Maine Coon neutered male cat.
Have you read our adoption policies, located under the "About DRC" tab?
Our previous dog (also a rescue dog) was supposedly a bouvier/lab cross, but we think she may have been a doodle! She was a big silly bumbly bee of a girl and we miss her so terribly and having a larger dog..
Are you now involved in Rescue? If so, how? Are you interested in volunteering with our rescue?
No, except that our current and previous dog are rescue dogs. I would never get a dog any other way now. They have been our most faithful and loving friends. So happy to be part of a family.

Funny thing is I am going to Victoria Sat-Tues on vacation, I spend a lot of time up in BC mostly Surrey (family in Surrey). You applied for Eli correct? Do you have any "good" spots for my Mom and I to go to beside the tourist normal stuff?

We just love Ernie. He is such a loving guy and tries to please us so much. He is a schedder but brushing each day is a new experience for him and a wonderful bonding experience for both of us. We believe he is almost perfect!

El Cajon is about 1 1/2 hours away but that is not a big deal in California at all. I agree with you about little puppies.  We got Ned at about 3 1/2  months and he was really easy to house train, crate train (probably already was crate trained actually).  He did a bit of puppy stuff but not that much.  Some breeders do have older pups that they decide not to use as a breeder.  If you opt to check that idea out, I will give you a link to a great article about choosing a breeder.  It is on another doodle website that you might enjoy too.  It is called doodlekisses. It has great dog stuff you can learn - and really great doodle things.  For example, many doodles need lots of grooming and there is a group on dk about different coats doodles might have, how to care for them, if you want to try cutting their coats yourself etc.

We already had three dogs and did NOT want a fourth.... Then I went to a fundraiser walk around the park sponsored by our local shelter - and met Clancy.  He had NOT been posted.  The moral to that story is to check places anyway just in case your dream dog is there and waiting for you like Clancy must have been waiting for us.  I do wish you a short wait.
