We have always had dogs - 2 Goldens and 1 black Lab (one Golden & the Lab were rescue dogs). now deceased ( all died of old age - lived to be @12). We now have a 15 yr old Jack Russell who we got as a 1 yr old rescue. As my husband was raised with standard poodles, and we also love labs, we have our heart set on getting a Labadoodle when we lose Rudy.
Do you currently own a dog? If not, have you owned dogs as an adult, with vet records in your own name (not parents' names)?
Rudy is about 15, a rescue dog, and is a gem of a Jack - still active - but showing signs of doggie Alzheimer's,and has cataracts, otherwise very healthy for an old guy. As he is old and finicky and has enough trouble coping with a new grandbaby, we can not bring another dog into our home at this time, We are looking to get a doodle after Rudy passes on as we cannot live without a dog.
Have you read our adoption policies, located under the "About DRC" tab?
We want to get a doodle after we lose Rudy as we are ready to get another large dog that our grandchildren can romp with in our fenced yard and who may like to swim with us in our pool and run with us at the state park trails near our house. We've had 2 Goldens and a Lab and my husband was raised with standard poodles, so a doodle fits us very well - the smarts of the poodle and the laid-back gentleness of the lab - plus, they are gorgeous - who could ask for more?
Are you now involved in Rescue? If so, how? Are you interested in volunteering with our rescue?
As the adopted mother of 3 rescue dogs, I would only consider getting another rescue - they are just the best dogs and so deserving of good homes! I hope I will be considered a good home for one of your doodles when the time is right for us.
