Meet Fitzgerald, that's Senator Fitzgerald to be exact! :) Fostered in IN

I was inspired by the blog posts and forums of others talking about their fosters so I thought share Fitzgerald's story!

First, let's take a look at his handsome face! Quite frankly, he melts me like butter! :)

Fitz has been with me for two weeks today and he has been an absolute joy!  He doesn't really care for my dogs (they can be a bit annoying ;)) and there has been quite a bit of growling going on!  But with each new day, we make more progress and they seem to tolerate the existence of each other. But when it comes to people, cats and kids, he is 100% Mr. McLovin!  He trusts people instantly, in fact he showed me his belly the first night! And he is so well-behaved.  No crate, no accidents, no chewing, no nothing...just perfect.  All he really wants is my attention!

Unfortunately, for him he came to me with his family jewels intact so last week he had the dreaded surgery! All those hormones make be causing some of his dislike for my dogs.  Poor Fitz resting after his surgery! Such a sweet boy...

Poor Fitz had complications from his neuter (let's just say, swelling the size of a softball!) so back to the vet we went for antibiotics, pain pills and anti-inflammatories. Last night he was feeling so much better and actually played with a tennis ball for a little bit!

Now that he's feeling better, He and I can concentrate on finding him his forever home.  He's going to be hard to give up, but with the right person or family I can do it for him!  He's got alot of love to give someone!  Seriously look at this face...I think he's an old soul...it's all in those eyes!

Fitz looks so much like Jackdoodle! What a sweet boy. It would be hard for me to give him up, too. It's easy to see he has a lot of love to give to some lucky family!
Jeannine ..... he does look like a really sweet boy. Sounds like you've had a busy couple weeks with the neuter problems etc. Hopefully all will smooth out now and you can concentrate on the re-home. Keep us posted on how he is doing.
Hi Jeannine, what a sweet face! I joined Doodle Rescue Collective in the hopes of finding a sweet boy such at this. I'm so happy to hear that he's feeling better after his traumatizing event last week.
He's a doll!
He's gorgeous! I'm so glad to read everyone's foster stories. I wish I had done the same when I had Suki last month. I will blog the next time I foster. It's wonderful to hear how they are doing while they get ready for their new homes.
I think that it is just such a great place to blog on the things that you learn about them as they are staying with you. That way anyone that is considering adopting them can get a better feeling for if they are the right dog for their family. I always want to pass along as much info as possible to the adoptive family, but if Ii don't write it down I can never remember it. I find that the longer they are with me the more at home they get. Most of mine haven't even barked for several days after arriving.
Oh Jeannie - he is such a beautiful, sweetheart!! My heart melts looking at those eyes!! Glad to hear he is feeling better!!
I love reading these. Thanks for posting.
Update: Senator Fitz had a great weekend! He met 5 of my nieces and nephew and it was love at first sight for all! He loves kids! He even rolled over and gave them his belly to rub! He is such a sweetheart! He is definitely feeling better and some of his true colors are starting to come through...in fact he's a little spoiled! :) He likes to be with me at all times and throws a crying fit if he can't be in the same room with me, but since he doesn't play nice with my big doodle Sully (the big daddy in charge), I need to keep them separate. For now, they are tolerating each other through a baby gate! However, he has become friends with my younger and smaller doodle Daisy...they have been running in the yard together and playing Frisbee! Getting those two to play together has been very fun and exciting. My corgi's on the other hand look at me like, "are you for real?! another one that we have to keep under control?!?"

So all in all, he is doing very well and is ready for his forever home!

Here he is posing with my brother-in-law, nieces and nephew!

Fitz looks like he's just one of the kids! Great photo!
Fitz went to his forever home on Sunday and he is already much loved. He's now living in Bel Air, Maryland with Rick and Elizabeth and their two kids, Sam and Kate! He is the perfect fit for their family and he is going to have a very happy life! It was sad to see him go, but he's now living the high life being showered with all the attention he deserves!

another happy ending! great job!
