Profile Information

Where are you located?
Atlanta, Ga. area
Tell us about yourself and how we might help you:
I am a single male in my mid sixties who is retired. I live in a ranch house in a community surrounded by two lakes and lots of land.
Do you currently own a dog? If not, have you owned dogs as an adult, with vet records in your own name (not parents' names)?
I currently am without a pet, but my last dog was a blue Chow, and before her , I had a schnauzer. I grew up with cocker spaniels. My best friend has had poodles and I am actively involved with them. People tell me that I seem to have a special relationship with dogs.
Have you read our adoption policies, located under the "About DRC" tab?
I have bonded with my girlfriends poodles. And the reason I would love to have a doodle or even two doodles is because of the size , looks and temperament of the doodle breed.
Are you aware that many doodles are not allergy friendly and that many of them do shed?
yes, and it doesn't matter.
Are you aware that we do not adopt to homes with children under 10, and that we do not adopt dogs for service work?
That's fine
Are you now involved in Rescue? If so, how? Are you interested in volunteering with our rescue?
I'm not currently involved in rescue, but I would like to be because I have the time and interest.

Hi Grady,

Meetings with dogs in the program are only arranged through the adoption coordinator and the foster when an individual is seriously being considered as an adopter for a particular dog.

HI Grady!  Welcome to DRC.  It is always good to see a fellow Georgian interested in helping doodles in need.

Welcome! Thank you for your interest in doodles, adoption, and DRC. Take a look around the site and be sure to read the Policies and Procedures: and let me know if you have any questions.

You can also look at the Regional Listings section for a listing of other adoptable dogs in your area: -- these dogs are at shelters or with other rescues so their adoption criteria may vary.

Here is a good article for potential first time doodle owners:

Hi! Before applying to adopt, be sure to read the link to DRC ADOPTION POLICIES AND PROCEDURES. (application at top of page)
Check the OUR ADOPTABLE DOODLES section. When you are looking at the pictures, notice that the two letters in front of the dog’s name mean the state they are being fostered in. While the DRC allows out of state applicants, they cannot transport the rescues and will not let them fly, so you need to be within driving distance of the foster.
Here are some other ideas for finding a rescue doodle:
Click on the REGIONAL LISTINGS section which lists poodles and mixes from other organizations and shelters around the country -- click "Follow" right below where it says "Replies Are Closed For This Discussion" and you will get email notifications when new listings are added.
(putting in all zip codes within your driving distance);
GOOGLE in shelters and humane societies within your driving range. Here is a helpful article on how to find a doodle on Petfinder and in shelters:
