Winnie is settling in Virginia. Just over 2 weeks ago we made the trip out to Indianapolis and scooped Winnie up to come home. Since then, she's been quite busy. We stayed at the Westin Columbus which is very pet friendly and we highly recommend it! It was beautiful and they really fussed over Winnie. Not only was Winnie welcome there but also at Dempsey's Restaurant next door where we ate great burgers for dinner and had a delicious breakfast the next morning at their outdoor café surrounded by window boxes of flowers, our doodle girl next to us, a bowl of fresh water for Miss Winnie, and kind people who were smitten by Winnie almost as much as us. Since coming home to Northern VA Winnie has been a busy girl. She made a trip with us down to Richmond, VA to visit family and of course has been meeting, greeting, and visiting family back up here too. Saturday night was her 1st outdoor concert in Reston where she seemed to enjoy herself very much! She made lots of new human friends who came by to pet and meet her and in some cases to get a kiss from Miss Winnie. She would then rush over to me (Erin) and kiss me as if to say, this is the most fun ever! :)

Surprisingly, she's unsure of other dogs on leashes and seems to think the best strategy is to show them that she rules and so we are being very cautious with that and taking our time. However, by the end of the concert, it seemed like she started to relax and maybe (?) begin to realize (just by watching other dogs being friendly with each other on leash) that maybe they could be potential buddies. We are hoping that exposing her to the people and other dogs will help. We plan to enroll in group obedience for fun and socialization. She already knows some commands and we are teaching her more. She is very smart and food and toy motivated so it's really fun to watch her learn! She's really relaxing and settling in as you can see by the picture Kerry posted. She's in one of her favorite spots by the chair in our family room where we are reading or watching TV and looks a little sleepy. Thank you Jacque and Kim for entrusting Winnie to us. She is a much loved pup and is our Winnie.
