I've had it for a while now, so it isn't actually new.  What it is though is "very unique".  Here's how it works:

Like so many I go to bed late and fine sleep difficult and s-o-o-o good.  Then, at an unusually early hour for me, I feel a presence.  I've felt it off and on all night, but now I REALLY FEEL IT.  If ignored, like so many other alarm clocks, this one changes tactics.  In its next stage I get a healthy black paw in the ear or should I be on my back--in the mouth.  Try ignoring that!  I actual have tried, by then a persisitent black appears.  At first propped up on four legs on some portion of my anatomy, and in the final stages it descends and initiates my bath persisitently to let me know the next move is mine.  And surprise, surprise . . . I'm up!

I highly recommend such an alarm clock, which makes excuses for being late totally obsolete.

We have an alarm clock who dances and sings to us every morning at the time HE wants us to get up.
