Labradoodle Rescue & Goldendoodle Rescue
While I was flying back from Honduras from my annual volunteer humanitarian trip, the northeast was wholloped with tons of wet snow on the trees already heavy with leaves. I made it safely to DRC headquarters courtesy of Jeanine and Jacquie who were lovely hostesses, however I missed my doodles and drove on up to CT yesterday, where the local Bradley International Airport had a total of 20 1/2 inches of heavy wet snow. The land line phones and cellular phones are not working, was well as electricity in my part of the state.
Last night I slept with gloves, winter gloves, 4 blankets and two doodles around us. The shelter won't take pets and local pet friendly hotels are full. Am looking for out of town pet friendly hotels....

Thursday the electricity came back and Friday we had telephone and cable/internet restored. Lots of towns are STILL not back, including Jane's town. My mom and sister spoke with a lineman who told them he could have had power to their house a day earlier, he was on a neighboring major road but the company doesn't allow the linemen to work > 14 hour shifts. Everyone in CT is up in arms at CT Light and Power Company.
A silver lining to losing your entire refridgerator and freezer's food.... it's nice and sparkling clean!!!!
It's a nightmare Karen.....BTW just got a call from Jane and she is going to reach out to you via her IPad....She and Dave and the dogs have been braving the 30 degree nights in their condo but they will be staying at the town shelter this evening.....Jane's power isn't scheduled to be back up until late Sunday night!...
She told me that the gas stations in CT are not able to pump gas because the pumps are electric and people cannot get gas to fuel generators or even fill up their cars so that they can travel outside of the effected area to stay in either hotels or with relatives who have heat and power....
Schools are closed, thousands of trees came down from the weight of the heavy wet snow because leaves did not yet fall due to the wet summer...Snow gathered on the leaves and BOOM..Down came the trees because they could not handle the weight....
People are literally becoming desperate....
Hang in there Lizzie!.....You know that you and the doods are welcome here if you need a place to crash.....
Those of us living here in the Northeast are all dealing with the after effects of this horrible storm in one way or another. So many are awaiting the restoration of power and have been without heat, water and electricity since Saturday afternoon!...
Utility companies across the region say the earliest ETA on power restoration is FRIDAY and could take as long as next MONDAY to repair! Hotels are full and like many shelters refuse to allow pets!
I know that Adrianne is currently holed up in a hotel with her hubby and Sam and Charlie and I have been trying to get in touch with Jane since the weekend in CT and have not been able to reach her......
Fortunately, Jeannine and I did not lose power but we did sustain a tremendous amount of tree damage on our property including the destruction of our brand new fence.......
It does not even compare to what those of you still without power, heat, water, phone service etc are having to endure......
