READ MORE ABOUT RILEY
Riley is a stunning 6 year old standard goldendoodle who is ready for his new "furever" home. Riley weighs 75 lbs and has a beautiful soft non-shedding apricot colored coat. He was relinquished to DRC by his owners because they are moving to an apartment that doesn't allow dogs over 40 lbs.
The loss of his family (including his smaller canine "brother") and the only home he has ever known has been very hard on poor Riley. He has settled in nicely at his foster home, and is very loving with his foster mom, but it did take him some time to feel comfortable, and we are sure that will be the case with his new home as well.
This sweet, sensitive boy is very shy with people he doesn't know, and takes some time to warm up. He does favor women over men, but is shy and a bit stand-offish with anyone he doesn't know. Once he gets to know you and trust you, he is very sweet, gentle, and affectionate, but you do need to give him a little time and space, and allow him to get to know you at his own pace. You do need to earn his trust.
He loves other dogs, and gets along very well with his foster brother. They romp and play together beautifully. He also loves to visit the neighborhood park to play with the other dogs there. He gets along best with other friendly, well-mannered dogs who are not too pushy with him.
Riley is completely housebroken and has very nice house manners. Although he is quite tall, he doesn't counter surf and is not destructive when left alone in his foster home. He does not need to be crated or confined in the home. He likes sitting on the sofa and sleeping in bed with his foster mom, and we would like to see him in a home where dogs are welcomed on the furniture. He will alert bark in the house and the car, but stops quickly.
Riley loves to go for walks, although he does pull on the leash, and he would benefit greatly from some training work/practice with his leash manners. We would like him to have an owner who will commit to taking him to training classes, which in addition to improving his leash skills, would greatly boost his confidence and improve his socialization with strangers as well as helping to build a bond with his new owner.
Riley is neutered, microchipped, and UTD on all vaccines and preventatives.
Riley will need a calm, quiet ADULT home where there are not a lot of guests or visitors coming and going frequently, and an experienced, patient, compassionate owner who will give him time to bond. He will also need a fenced yard where he can run, and he MUST have at least one other well-mannered dog in his new home.
This beautiful boy will be a wonderful, loving companion for the right person or family.
