Meet Kimo! Northern CA/NV area foster pup

Kimo is our latest guest at puppy boot camp. His name is the Hawaii'an form of James or Jim and he is an intelligent, happy, healthy, high-energy, and very sweet 60 lb. pup.

He settled in quickly with our little pack and is not aggressive with the others (but loves to play chase and doodle boxing with his big foster brother.) He loves to walk on leash but needs work on the heel position, he knows his basic commands (come, sit, down, drop) but like most puppies "forgets" them when convenient.

He likes riding in the truck and travelling:

He was a matted mess when dropped off at the shelter:

Had to be shaved clean but his hair is growing back and his big beautiful eyes aren't hidden anymore:

Gets along nicely with his foster pack:

We expect his Petfinder listing to be up soon, but you can apply now for Kimo in Northern California/Nevada.

He will need a family that is confident and committed to obedience training. Ideal situation will be a home where he'll get the strenuous daily exercise that he needs to be his best self, and a constant human companion he can spend his days with.

Thanks Nancy. We were headed to LV but took a right instead of a left at the end of US 395 to pick him up in LA. He needed some training, apparently didn't have much except house breaking as a pup so it's been fun. More pics and a video to follow when I get a spare minute.

I didn't realize Kimo was the Pasadena Shelter dog.  I love it when people care enough to coordinate with each other in the best interests of the dog.  Unlike some shelters I could name

Thanks for fostering him.  I hope he finds his forever home very soon.

He's getting better day by day. We're working on his manners and trying to keep him tired out!

He's gorgeous!  And after some time with the Melvilles I bet his manners are 100% improved!

Kimo is our Pasadena Shelter dog - the shelter is a nice low kill shelter and generally will adopt out popular dogs like Kimo on their own. But, their adoption coordinator was nice enough to look over our DRC recommended requirements for a home as well as typical doodle traits. They soon saw Kimo's stress in the shelter environment and recognized that the hundreds of inquiries they were getting were from families with young kids were not going to be appropriate for a pup like Kimo. They released him to us instead and off to the Melville's he went. He is beautiful,  high energy, loving and a stinker at times - he was left without proper direction for his first year and luckily he has the Melville's and their well-behaved pack to teach him the ropes. Of course, that training will need to continue with his new family.

There are many more beautiful pics of Kimo and the Melville's gorgeous pack on our FB page.

He's a nice looking dog, and very good with everyone he meets.

What a gorgeous boy! I'm sure there will be lots of applications for him!
