Brinkley- Groomer vs Dog

Brinkley went to the groomers today.Apparently she has not been to a groomer in her 10 months of life. The groomer said she was so matted that they had to clip her short. I think it is a big improvement and she sure feels better from the way she was prancing around today. It took the groomer two and a half hours to groomer her from start to finish. I think that is fast. Taking the pictures took an hour, 3 cameras later, 2 AA batteries, 1 confused puppy and of course me trying to get the…

Brinkley- The Amazing Blind Doodle

Hi Everyone!  I am fostering the newest member of the DRC family...Brinkley! Brinkley is a beautiful 10 month old, red Goldendoodle. Her story is she is blind and partially deaf.

The breeder sold her like that, as Brinkley was left in the uterus and went blind from lack of oxygen. The vet feels that…

To MI-Jake Foster Family

I apologize if this is against DRC rules but I didn’t know how else to contact the foster family.  I notice that Jake is being fostered in Traverse City.  We also live in Traverse City and have been looking for other Doodles for play dates.  If you are interested, please contact me through DRC.

So I have been dealing with fleas now for over a 2 months. I let a friend do here laundry here and she had an infestation which she didn't tell me about. I swear these are super fleas and will not die! I have bombed, Frontlined, switch to K9 Advantage when Frontline didn't seem to work. Washed everything so many times I'm at a loss on what to do next. I live in the PAC NW, so I flea treat year round. They have to be super fleas for me to get them in the first place! I have no idea how I should… Continue

Advice request

Ginger is/was progressing very nicely. She is a rescue that I got in mid July.

She has been trusted out of the crate for awhile now with no problem. Then last week she dug out a french drain under the deck while no one could see her. I am sure she was trying to get chipmunks. Today she chewed up a basket with an artificial plant in it. I am not sure why she did that as well as tore apart a cardboard box ready to go out to recycling. I discovered the drain too late to punish her. For…

One failure to feel good about

So, I guess if we are going to fail something, fostering makes a pretty good candidate and we are proud to be in that club. We just can't bear to see Milo go. He fits in here perfectly. We weren't looking for another dog, but he just stole all our hearts from the moment he came in to our lives. He has a smile on his face now . . . and so do we. …

Snowed in, cold and incommunicato in New England

While I was flying back from Honduras from my annual volunteer humanitarian trip, the northeast was wholloped with tons of wet snow on the trees already heavy with leaves. I made it safely to DRC headquarters courtesy of Jeanine and Jacquie who were lovely hostesses, however I missed my doodles and drove on up to CT yesterday, where the local Bradley International Airport had a total of 20 1/2 inches of heavy wet snow. The land line phones and cellular phones are not working, was well as…
