I have such mixed emotions as I write this blog about little miss Molly (Molly McDoodle as I affectionately call her). She has just ridden off with two wonderful people - Jerry and Sarah - and will have a wonderful life in Pennsylvania. The feelings they have for her already were evident and that is the only way I feel happy to see her ride off. Continue
Molly has been a different foster right from the start because, well, she wasn't intended to be a foster; she was going to be a part of our…

On October 25th, a new chapter began in Annabelle's life. That was the day that my friend, Barb, rescued Annabelle from a shelter in Bay City, MI. It was wonderful to see how everyone involved was working together and trying to find a way to rescue, transport and foster Annabelle. What a great group of people!
Barb took wonderful care of Annabelle and was sad to see her leave. Because Annabelle had kennel cough and she didn't want to expose her doodles to it, Annabelle… Continue

On Sunday, October 24th, handsome Ralphie went to his new home in Chicago, IL! Ralph's new home is such a perfect fit for him. He has a beautiful big house to explore and a big yard to run and play in, not to mention a wonderful family to spend the rest of his life with. Ahhhh, life couldn't be much better for him! This big lug held a very special place in my heart and I started to fall in love with him immediately. I miss him so much but at the same time I am so happy he is now with a great… Continue

I just got a really great email from Lucy's (now Jenny) new family. She is doing really great and they love her so much! Paul wrote me that she is the PERFECT DOG for their family and that they feel so lucky to have her! He wanted me to thank DRC for saving her life.
Since Lucy and Abby were my first fosters for DRC, some of you might not know their story...
Abby and Lucy were used as breeders for a backyard breeder making $$ off of the fad of labradoodles. When Abby got a… Continue

Today Winston went to his new forever home with Patrick and LeAnne Nichol in Smyrna, Georgia. In case you are not familiar with Atlanta that's a suburb that about 15 mintues from me. Yay! He has a wonderful family and will be the only pet they have. He has a fenced in back yard that was reinforced today to keep him inside. With all that love, why would he want to go anywhere else. Thanks to everyone who submitted an application. It was a really tough decision but Winston really needed to be… Continue

It's been quite a week for Inky. Monday afternoon she left the loving arms of Foster Mom Tracy and her family (human and dog), boarded the first of two airplanes in Texas, and seven hours later met us, her new family, in Hartford, CT. We were all a little nervous about the trip and the introductions. Once off the plane and out of her crate, Inky's tail was up within 2 minutes. Introductions between Inky and Lilly (our 5 year old F1 labradoodle) went flawlessly in the parking lot, and… Continue

It is hard to believe that it has been 5 weeks since Operation Three Amigos
started with rescue of 3 young male doodles from a North Carolina shelter. Well I am happy to say MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!! Duke was adopted first by a lovely family in NC. Yesterday Harvey joined his forever mom and today F Scott Fitzdoodle, the last of the Three Amigos, found his forever family.

Sawyer's new family came and picked up their new doodle boy this afternoon!! Connie and her brother Chris and their doodle girl, Pepper came up from Houston. It was great to see that Pepper and Sawyer got along so well from the first introduction. I am so excited for Sawyer's new life as Connie says that she usually takes her doodle to the dog park for up to 3 hours a day!...what a life for Sawyer!! I just know that they are going to spoil Sawyer to death and will continue his training… Continue

Wednesday evening Harvey will be going to his forever home! Kim came and met Harvey last night and it was love at first sight! Kim is an experienced dog owner and understands that while Harvey is still a bit of a diamond in the rough, he IS a diamond!
Harvey was equally smitten, and by the end of the evening was snuggling with his head on Kim's lap. I let her see calm, snuggly indoors Harvey and goofy, energetic dog-park Harvey. She loved both.
Not only will… Continue

Sawyer got neutered on Friday, the 15th. He did really well and it is hard to keep that boy rested! You'd never know that he had surgery...he just wants to play, play, play! We have to force him to be rested in his kennel.
Good news about Sawyer...
He is pending adoption already! He is going to a home in Houston! It is an adult home with another 14 month old doodle girl to play with (small kids make poor Sawyer too nervous and nippy). If all goes well, he will be going home on… Continue

Thank you DRC! Our life was great before, but now it is fun, fantastic and friendly... Finley has so many friends! Sometimes I sneak out at the crack of dawn just to get in a good walk - just Finley and me! Don't get me wrong... I love meeting people. Being such a cute, adorable dog and really well-behaved people just want to stop and talk to us and find out more about Finley! So we end up on a stop and go walk, which really Finley doesn't mind at all.

Just wanted to bring things up to date with Winston before someone snatches him up. Winston had to return to the vet last Friday. His neutering incision had become infected and when the vet went to clean out the infection, found that he was actually a little gangrene. Uck! The Collier Road vets opened him up, cleaned him out of all the infection, removed all the dead tissue and restitched. He's on antibiotics until next Friday, but he's a different dog. His personality is coming out. He's… Continue

UPDATE: Harvey is meeting his potential new mom Monday night! This is a wonderful woman named Kim, who has a 14 year old standard poodle (sadly, she lost her 10 year old standard this past year). She's met several doodles and loved them, and is super excited about meeting Harvey. I'm very excited for them to meet, and love that she is local and can come and meet him (the transports are wonderful tools, but they make me sad)! In my conversations with Kim, I feel like she's a doodle mom just… Continue

Rocco is such a dear. He attaches very quickly to us humans. He loves to play tug of war with his leash; he can actually walk himself...so smart...he gets that from his foster parents..when he wants to go for a walk, he will come up to me; sit down and give me a look with his big brown eyes that is to die for...so out we go; he really likes chasing squirrels..as long as they are close to trees they are safe; His forever home family is going to be very lucky! He is still pretty aggressive… Continue

I just picked up my 4th foster doodle for DRC yesterday evening. I haven't blogged about any of my other fosters because I'm not sure how good I will be at it. Y'all do such a good job at it :). But, I have heard that the potential adopters love to read about their potential new pets so, here goes...
My 3 kiddos and I drove the hour-plus down to Granbury, Texas to pick up an owner surrender doodle. Poor guy was so freaked out to be in the car with strangers. I also don't think… Continue

Me and my shadow are not feeling blue at all. My shadow follows me where ever I go, even if it from room to another then back again. My shadow sleeps on a floor pillow on my side of the bed. Every morning when the alarm clock chimes my shadow puts his front feet on the bed to greet me with morning kisses and a tail wag. The only time he doesn't follow me is when he is romping with Harlow or chasing the tennis balls Frannie gave us.
F Scott has come a long way from the frightened dog… Continue

I’ve been looking for love in all the wrong places…I was on the street for a while, before I ended up in a place called a shelter. I got food and water there but not much in the love department.
My foster mom keeps talking about this place called a forever home. Not sure what that means, but I hope it means food, lots of love and playtime. Did I mention I love to give kisses so this forever home place better have somebody I can kiss.
Since being sprung from the shelter, I’ve… Continue

I'm not real good at this whole blogging thing, but I wanted to share about my first foster - Winston. Winston is such a sweet boy that he's probably ruined me for any other "more desperate" fosters to come.
I picked Winston up in Chattanooga last night. He was dropped off at a shelter, Monroe County Animal Shelter in Madisonville, TN on Wednesday the 29th. I don't know why yet, but I'm goin to try to find out. Well, the shelter is run by one of the nicest woman you'll ever… Continue

Katie is now a Jersey girl!! We decided to take a little end of summer road trip to New Jersey from Ohio and meet up with some friends and take Katie to meet her new family. It worked out great for everyone!
