Poor Coco slipped on a wet step

Last Saturday it was pouring down rain and poor Coco had to go "do her business". When she came running back inside she slipped on a wet porch step and bumped her left knee on the step (of course this was the foot I had yet to trim). She came in the house limping. Monday she was still limping so off to the vet we went. X-Rays revealed she has a pulled ligament and needs to stay off her leg as much as possible for the next 2 weeks. I feel so sorry for her as she looks so forlorn when she can't… Continue

Meet Coco Chanel our newest foster

Coco is a 5 1/2 year old doodle. She was one of 3 dogs (other 2 were Shih Tzu mix) that were owner surrender as they had too many dogs to take care of. She is a real sweetie who is already house trained and knows her Sit and Down commands. Coco has spent most of her life only going outside long enough to 'do her business' so she is a little shy around strangers. She is also learning how to walk on a leash.

Here are her 'before' pictures. I hope to be able to post 'after' pictures in… Continue

The Rescue of Bixby Foster Doodle

Hi guys - Liz asked me to post this email I sent her as a blog, so that people can get a better understanding of what our foster dogs and parents go through. A little background...wonderful Melanie Fincher drove to Athens TN on Wednesday to pick up a labradoodle named Motley. She and I met in a shopping center parking lot to do the "hand off" on Wednesday night. Consider yourself warned...this is long. I've also added some bits at the end about Bixby's second day and part of his… Continue

Logan Doodle Update

Hi Everyone,

My name is Cathy Neal. I wanted to update everyone on Logan in NC. Logan was pulled from a shelter in NC--very skinny and heartworm positive. My mother and stepfather nurtured him for a few days and then he went to live with Krista. Krista did a wonderful job rehabilitating Logan. She worked with him on his counter cruising; learning to live with lots of doggy family--her son and husband really did a great job helping Logan gain trust again.

After being away from my… Continue

A great movie for dog lovers

On a lighter note for the holiday, I just wanted to share with the group that we watched a great movie last evening. It's called "Hachi, A Dog's Story" with Richard Gere. If you haven't seen it, run immediately to the video store. It reinforces why we do what we do here and the value that our precious pets give to us. AND, get the kleenex out...but it's worth it.

I Love The Music!

Is the music that plays when you open up the site new? I don't remember it from the prior site, but I really love it. It's all so relevant to the DRC message. I don't know who is responsible, but great job!

Just a reminder for everyone-even a fence can't keep those long doodle legs from making a jump if they really want to. I have been very remiss myself in getting the "kids" done which we accomplished last Monday. I kept thinking about it and somehow didn't make the time. Now, I feel very relieved.....I would never have forgiven myself if either Lizzy or Sammy had gotton away somehow and we had no way to have them identified. So, if you haven't done it-with this great weather our critters are… Continue

Wesley on patrol

We had beautiful weather here in Virginia yesterday and Wesley persuaded my neighbor and I to sit on the patio for several hours. He likes his newly fenced yard but LOVES that the cat next door likes it too.

Wesley is forever hopeful that Haley will come over to play with him. In true cat style she lounges on the 6 foot wall between yards taunting and hissing at him. He was "on patrol" for much of the afternoon.

Wesley… Continue
