Do you currently own a dog? If not, have you owned dogs as an adult, with vet records in your own name (not parents' names)?
IDOG alerted me to a shelter, I think it was in Riverside CA that had a doodle-looking dog. I drove 45 mins to visit him right away. Then visited him 2 or 3 more times until he was cleared for adoption. I was 2nd on the wait list, but showed up an hour early, and luckily the 1st person didn't come at all. Puddy was thought to be about 3 months old and expected to get to be 50-60 lbs. I took him straight to the vet and learned he was probably more like 6 months and would be lucky to hit 25lbs. I was greatly disappointed, but stuck with him and as it turns out, he made it to 25lbs and I now that I am used to the smaller size, I think it is the most perfect size for us. We have two young kids and a young cat and everyone loves everyone!

And NOW I am a foster failure too! Milo is our 2nd doodle - appx 32 lb (now I LOVE the smaller size) - owner rehome. He was too good to let go.
Have you read our adoption policies, located under the "About DRC" tab?
I chose a doodle because I have always loved lab and golden retriever type dogs, but really was hoping to get a low-shedding dog. Puddy sheds, but not too bad. And he retrieves, which is so fun to do with him. Milo has a nice fleece wavy coat and does not appear to shed.
Are you now involved in Rescue? If so, how? Are you interested in volunteering with our rescue?
I post the doodles on Doodles In Need and do what I can to organize resuces, fosters and adoptions in the Southern CA area.

One failure to feel good about

So, I guess if we are going to fail something, fostering makes a pretty good candidate and we are proud to be in that club. We just can't bear to see Milo go. He fits in here perfectly. We weren't looking for another dog, but he just stole all our hearts from the moment he came in to our lives. He has a smile on his face now . . . and so do we.

That's Milo all the way…

A California Boy - introducing Milo

Posted on October 20, 2011 at 1:54pm 22 Comments

Well, I can't say enough good things about this boy. He is easy and settling in beautifully. But I hope he doesn't get tooooo comfortable because he will need a home of his own.

I am the 3rd stop in this little guy's 4th year of life. No fault of his own, just unfortunate circumstances. His first owner was overwhelmed with the two littermates she had imported from Australia. She gave Milo to a neighbor, who had him for a couple years but has now come across some hard…

Hi Michele, Sorry but we are leaving tomorrow for the holiday and won't be back until Dec 1st. Does that help at all? We typically don't travel, but since my dog passed, I just can't be in the house for the holidays.

I never heard anything back on my application and I submitted over 2 weeks ago, is that normal?

Hi Michele. I forgot to mention Luna and cats. At first she left them alone, but yesterday when I had my cat next to me on the couch, she really wanted to get him and stared at him like a predator. And she chases them ,barks and growls at them.

Hi there and thanks for your email. I would love to help foster but I picked up a new litter of tiny pups yesterday. Finished fostering another litter last week but they had an urgent need for someone to take these very young pups without a Mom. I will have them for 2-4 weeks to socialize them, pad train and fatten them up. Keep in touch though as I am always open to litters. Let me know if you want to do a home visit-we have a great set-up!
Again thanks

In case you are checking references, my vet's office is closed on Wednesdays.  Forgot to mention that, yesterday.  Did you fink someone in Seattle to check my yard, or should I send you pics?

I just wanted to follow-up on my application for Samson.  I haven't heard anything back from yet.  Can you let me know if I'm being considered as a "forever" home for Samson.  Thanks.
