Jermyn, pa
Tell us about yourself and how we might help you:
We have adopted Lucy, a poodle/bichon, and Mac, a mini golden doodle.
How can you help me? By letting me help you!
Do you currently own a dog? If not, have you owned dogs as an adult, with vet records in your own name (not parents' names)?
On 10/26/10, we adopted our Lucy, and on 4/10/11 we adopted Mac. Crazy, sweet, fun pets!
Have you read our adoption policies, located under the "About DRC" tab?
We found Lucy at a shelter in Waynesboro, PA. We found Mac at a golden retriever rescue in NJ. Both were listed on pet finder.com
Are you now involved in Rescue? If so, how? Are you interested in volunteering with our rescue?
Yes. I have joined the driver volunteer group and we now have a sweet foster doodle!

Food and saliva staining

Posted on July 11, 2011 at 5:46pm 5 Comments

I have a poodle/bichon, Lucy, and a mini golden doodle, Mac. They were eating Blue, but we transitioned them to taste of the wild when our foster arrived. We wanted to go grain free in case Lucy had sensitivities anyway.

Lucy already had mild salivary staining on her feet and just a little around her mouth, but it has gotten much worse since eating TOTW. A little research tells me that foods with tomato pomace and food coloring can contribute to saliva staining. TOTW has pomace. One… Continue

Vanessa's Update

Posted on July 2, 2011 at 2:59pm 2 Comments

Proof of how resilient dogs are: After her spay surgery on Tuesday, Vanessa did so well that one would never know she just had a surgical procedure. If I had an incision that size on my belly, I certainly would not be running around, jumping and playing! I know....we were charged with keeping her quiet for 2 weeks, and we did try, but how do you keep an active pup like her from doing what feels natural to her?!?!??? Spayed, microchipped, ears examined, nails trimmed, shots.....she had the full… Continue

A week and a day....

I think it's amazing how quickly a dog can fill your home and your heart with love.  We haven't had this girl for very long, and not only are the humans infatuated, but Mac and Lucy are as well.

Vanessa is silly, sweet, playful and cuddly. She is friendly and fun. She now gets excited when it's time to get in the car because we usually end up on some sort of adventure. She is learning, however slowly, the value of food treats. She sits well, and, though rarely, stays.

For her…

Vanessa the Foster Doodle - 48 hour update.

Posted on June 19, 2011 at 4:05pm 4 Comments

Vanessa has been with us for 48 hours. Since this is our very first foster, and the first time we've had more than 2 dogs in our home, we had no idea what to expect. She's 6 months old or less, and in my experience, pups that age are just plain silly.  Not Van.  Naturally full of puppy exuberance, but she also has manners.  She seems a little mature for her age.

Housebreaking is one of our main concerns, so we have been getting her outside frequently and showering her with…

Fortunately, no. We had lots of rain and lost power for only 5 hours. We had Roger's daughter and roommate with us for four nights due to power loss. The dogs seem unfazed by all of the wet, if anything, the wet grass is just something fun to roll in.
