Tell us about yourself and how we might help you:
I have been married to my best friend, Tom, for almost 15 years and he is so supportive of my fostering doodles. I have 3 great kids...Kaylee (11), Kyle (9), and Kari (4). They "kid test" all of our fosters. I work at an animal hospital in Texas. I have been fostering for DRC since July, 2010. I have had 20 fosters so far and all have gone to wonderful homes. I look forward to helping many more doodles find their forever families and bright futures.
Do you currently own a dog? If not, have you owned dogs as an adult, with vet records in your own name (not parents' names)?
I have two dogs...a 4 yr old airedale terrier, named Figgins and a 2 yr old labradoodle, named Lexi. We call Lexi our Doodle Ambassador since she "mothers" all of our fosters and shows them the ropes in our home. My dogs are my other two kids and they mean the world to me.
Have you read our adoption policies, located under the "About DRC" tab?
I got my doodle from a hobby breeder. My oldest daughter has allergic excema from shedding dogs and we wanted a playmate for our airedale, who doesn't shed. I saw a lot of doodles coming into our practice and I was hooked...we love our doodle!...and no allergic reactions by my daughter at all :)
Are you now involved in Rescue? If so, how? Are you interested in volunteering with our rescue?
I have done a few private rescues through word of mouth. I have placed 2 labradoodles for families that could no longer care for them. I also have asked DRC for help with a doodle that was found in my hospital's parking lot (Snowflake, who was fostered by Staci Murto). I am happy to say that I am now a foster family for the DRC! I couldn't imagine my life without fostering and helping these sweet creatures find new lives. I am so proud to be involved with DRC, who helps hundreds of doodles a year find forever homes.

Is THAT a Doodle?!...Yep, that's Matilda (Mattie for short).

Posted on December 30, 2010 at 8:00pm 9 Comments

I've never seen a Doodle that looks like Mattie before.  My kids say that she looks like cookies and cream ice cream...and she does!

Poor girl was abandonned at my vet clinic, tied to the bench out front for our staff to find.  The Dr. examined her and said that she is about 9 months old and healthy.  She is a bit under-weight for…

Meet Sweet Paisley...

Posted on November 17, 2010 at 10:00pm 8 Comments

Paisley was picked up on Halloween down in Houston by our volunteer Anabel. She was from an owner who was "downsizing" their dogs. It wasn't until Anabel got her home, to temporarily foster her until I could come and pick up, that Anabel discovered that poor Paisley was petrified...of everything. Anabel couldn't get within 10 feet of Paisley when she would deficate all over herself because her tail was tucked under her so tightly.

The following Wednesday, I met Anabel to pick up Paisley…

Update on Lucy (now Jenny)

Posted on October 26, 2010 at 2:14pm 5 Comments

I just got a really great email from Lucy's (now Jenny) new family. She is doing really great and they love her so much! Paul wrote me that she is the PERFECT DOG for their family and that they feel so lucky to have her! He wanted me to thank DRC for saving her life.

Since Lucy and Abby were my first fosters for DRC, some of you might not know their story...

Abby and Lucy were used as breeders for a backyard breeder making $$ off of the fad of labradoodles. When Abby got a… Continue

Hi Tracy,

Thanks for your comment.  I filled out the complete application on a dog in another state that was adopted by someone else.  There weren't any dogs available in Texas at the time.  ?Are the applications saved or should I fill out another one?  I was interested in Bella.  Thanks for your guidance!

Hi Tracy,  I live in Colleyville and noticed that you foster doodles in Keller, close to where I live.  I have been wanting to adopt a doodle.  I completed the application online and haven't heard back.  I think that I can offer a really great home.  Can you suggest what my next step should be?  castephens@verizon.net  Thanks!

Hi Tracy!  My name is Roberta Veazey and I was Barley's foster mom for several weeks before I put him on the plane to come to you in Texas.  How is he doing?  Barely was a sweetheart.  Please let me hear from him.  I get so attached when I foster!

Thank you Tracy.  Cici and Ranger are both adorable, but too small.  But my husband has his heart set on a larger dog this time.  I usually get to choose the animals, but he's retired now, so it's his choice :)  Please keep us in mind as you receive others and we will keep checking back.  We love the doodles, but refuse to go buy a puppy while there are so many in need.  So we will just wait.
