Tell us about yourself and how we might help you:
Can foster, home visits?, transport - not adopt. I work on cargo ships so fostering while at home is how I can have dogs. I've been doing rescue for about 2 yrs - mostly the small fluffy breeds, also 2 large dogs.
Tell us about your dog(s) and/or other pets that you have:
I did adopt a senior JRT/Poodle that was my foster. We bonded :) so when I'm at work he stays with a friend. With my parents we had Airedales or Bouviers as a kid. Steve is my buddy - he's come such a long way and I'm so proud of him. He was unsocialized to other dogs and now he doesn't care. While he doesn't seek out play or being close to other dogs - he also doesn't have aggression or get bothered. I'm currently watching a Lab mix? for about another week for someone in the hospital - when Storm jumps around too crazy for Steve - Steve just looks at me and snorts. He's now 12 and other than having dbl cataract surgery he's in great condition. I think his diminishing eyesight may have contributed to his fear issues - but he's great now. He was an owner turn in. I'm single, no kids or anyone else living w/me. I don't have a fenced yard but there is a gated/fenced park right next door where the dogs can run off leash. Otherwise we do leash walking/standing.
If you are looking to adopt a doodle, why have you chosen this mix?
Saw this mix at a Golden Ret. fundraiser and they are gorgeous. I pretty much just love dogs and I'm always amazed at them - I do prefer the fluffy/hairier types of breeds over the short haired ones - but size doesn't matter. I like learning about the differences in the breeds also - I started out fostering a variety of breeds planning for eventual retirement to see which breed I'd adopt. After over 30 fosters the only thing I've really narrowed it down to is personality, hairy and probably a senior whose family gave it the boot - I feel so sorry for those that have been dumped and just want to make their remaining life as happy as possible. I'm not looking to adopt right now and I do like fostering - it's a way to enjoy dogs and still be able to leave home to go to work. I think I'll always be a fosterer.
Have you read our adoption policies?
Are you aware that many doodles are not allergy friendly and that many of them do shed?
am now
Are you aware that we do not adopt to homes with children under 10, and that we do not adopt dogs for service work?
I am now - knew about the kids, not the service work part
Are you now involved in Rescue? If so, how? Are you interested in volunteering with our rescue?
I was until I went to work for the season in Aug 2013 - and I will be again as the need/opportunity arises. I've done rescues/transports/vetting from a hoarder w/45 (was reported to be 25) in Miami and a commercial breeder in S. FL. I foster, take to vets, house and leash train, socialize, play with.

Hi Sue, Thanks for wanting to help. Please go to the volunteer section above and sign up to transport (perhaps) in your area, and fill out the application to foster.
