Our family is looking into adopting a new dog. We have three teenaged daughters who all love dogs. We are looking for a dog who would enjoy walking, hiking, playing, and also relaxing in the house with our family.
Do you currently own a dog? If not, have you owned dogs in the past? Any other pets?
We don't have any pets currently. We had a golden retriever until recently, and before that we had a yellow lab. We often dogsit for our friends and have met many lovely golden doodles and labradoodles through these experiences.
If you are looking to adopt a doodle, why have you chosen this mix?
We are looking for a dog with a similar temperament to golden retrievers and labs. My daughter wants to avoid having a dog that is the exact same breed as our golden retriever who passed away, so a golden doodle or labradoodle would work well for our family.
Have you read our adoption policies?
Are you aware that many doodles are not allergy friendly and that many of them do shed?
yes-it is totally fine for us if the dog is a shedder. We are used to very heavily shedding dogs
Are you aware that we do not adopt to homes with children under 10, and that we do not adopt dogs for service work?
that is fine. our youngest kids are 12 and they are all very responsibly behaved around dogs
Are you now involved in Rescue? If so, how? Are you interested in volunteering with our rescue?
would be interested in fostering

Welcome to the DRC website. Here is a ‘must read’ article with information you should know before you apply to adopt a doodle: http://doodlerescue.org/forum/topics/information-for-anyone-interested-in-adopting-a-doodle. Here is a link to our adoption guidelines which include that you must have owned a dog before and also supply a vet reference. Please read the guidelines before filling out an application to make sure that you meet them. http://doodlerescueinc.ning.com/notes/DRC_ADOPTION_POLICIES_AND_PROCEDURES. The application itself is at the top of any page, but here is a link: http://doodlerescue.org/page/adoption-application-2. The application doesn’t obligate you in any way but it opens the lines of communication with the adoption coordinator. Quite often, a new dog who comes into the program is adopted before he/she is ever listed, because our adoption coordinator is aware of a good approved applicant who would be a good match for that dog. However once you have an approved application on file, if you see a dog under the DRC’s care (either on the DRC Facebook page, doodlekisses.com home page or on our home page) that you feel would be a good fit for your family, an e-mail can be sent to: email@example.com stating that there is an application on file and you would like to be considered for (name of dog).
When looking at the adoptable dogs here, Petfinder, or our FaceBook page, notice the two letters in front of the dog’s name mean the state they are being fostered in. While the DRC allows out of state applicants, they cannot transport the rescues and will not let them fly, so adopters need to be within driving distance to pick the dog up. We also have a FaceBook page where our fosters often post before the doodles are listed on PetFinder.
