Profile Information

Where are you located?
Gilgo Beach, NY & Sandisfield, MA
Tell us about yourself and how we might help you:
Semi retired teacher with some time to spare and a love for all animals.
Do you currently own a dog? If not, have you owned dogs in the past? Any other pets?
Herbie, our beloved lean, 90 pound, 8.5 year old labradoodle passed in my arms last September.
Maxie, our mini poodle was adopted 4 years ago out of the Town of Oyster Bay Shelther. He is 12.5 years old.
We have three cats, a domestic short hair, and two ragedolls.
Have you read our adoption policies, located under the "About DRC" tab?
Herbie through a breeder, and Max from a shelther.
We selected these breeds based on their attributes, intelligence, nature, and love for water.
Are you aware that many doodles are not allergy friendly and that many of them do shed?
Yup!
Are you aware that we do not adopt to homes with children under 10, and that we do not adopt dogs for service work?
Yes!
Are you now involved in Rescue? If so, how? Are you interested in volunteering with our rescue?
Well, I've rescued our Maxie, and prepared to fill the void left by our pup Herbie with a labradoodle adoption.

Hi, you should get an autoreply stating that your application has been received.  If you didn't receive it, check your spam/junk folder.  Approved applications are kept on file so if you find another dog that you are interested in later just send an email to adoption@doodlerescuecollectiveinc.org and mention that you have an application on file and what dog you are interested in.

I am so sorry about your doodle. Before applying to adopt, be sure to read the link to DRC ADOPTION POLICIES AND PROCEDURES. http://doodlerescue.org/notes/DRC_ADOPTION_POLICIES_AND_PROCEDURES (application at top of page)
Check the OUR ADOPTABLE DOODLES section. When you are looking at the pictures, notice that the two letters in front of the dog’s name mean the state they are being fostered in. While the DRC allows out of state applicants, they cannot transport the rescues and will not let them fly, so you need to be within driving distance of the foster.
Here are some other ideas for finding a rescue doodle:
Click on the REGIONAL LISTINGS section which lists poodles and mixes from other organizations and shelters around the country -- click "Follow" right below where it says "Replies Are Closed For This Discussion" and you will get email notifications when new listings are added.
PETFINDER
(putting in all zip codes within your driving distance);
GOOGLE in shelters and humane societies within your driving range. Here is a helpful article on how to find a doodle on Petfinder and in shelters: http://doodlerescue.org/group/isadoodleforyou/forum/topics/looks-like-a-doodle-to

Welcome! Thank you for your interest in doodles, adoption, and DRC. Take a look around the site and be sure to read the Policies and Procedures:http://doodlerescue.org/notes/DRC_ADOPTION_POLICIES_AND_PROCEDURES and let me know if you have any questions.

You can also look at the Regional Listings section for a listing of other adoptable dogs in your area:http://doodlerescue.org/group/doodlesinneedinnorthamerica -- these dogs are at shelters or with other rescues so their adoption criteria may vary.

Here is a good article for potential first time doodle owners:http://doodlerescue.org/group/isadoodleforyou/forum/topics/things-to-consider-before-you-get-a-doodle
