Rescuers at the Rainbow Bridge

This has been posted before, but I thought it deserved reposting...Unlike most days at Rainbow Bridge, this day dawned cold and gray, damp as a swamp and as dismal as could be imagined. All the…Continue

Yep, that's right, she has a forever family.  This morning Ginger and I met her new mom, Kathie, new dad, Mac and big brother, Laser (yellow lab).  Her new family had just spent two days driving from…Continue

Introducing the doodle sisters...

Life has been a bit hectic and I have been overly long in posting. The house is full of crazy playing doodles (even Lacey is joining in on the fun). A couple of weeks ago DRC, Inc contacted me to see…Continue

OMD! Tess could be Harlow's twin sister

When I saw Tess' picture on our adoptable doodles section my first thought was "who in the world put Harlow's picture on petfinder?!".  What a lovely girl, but then again, I might be a bit baised.…Continue

Where are you located?
Roswell, GA
Tell us about yourself and how we might help you:
We are semi-empty nesters and have discovered we have more 'empty time' now (no more girl scouts, band, soccer etc.) that our girls (23 & 30) are grown. Our oldest daughter lives in Northern Ireland, but the younger one still lives at home while attending college. Eons ago, before children :o} we showed English Setters and Pointers. When children came along we 'down sized' to smaller less grooming intensive dogs, but never lost that soft spot for the big 'ol bird dogs.
Do you currently own a dog? If not, have you owned dogs as an adult, with vet records in your own name (not parents' names)?
Harlow is our very first doodle though we have always had at least 2 dogs (and cats) our whole lives. In July Lacey (formerly Lucy) came to stay with us as a DRC foster, but worked her way into our hearts and became an official family member Labor Day weekend. Along with the "doodle girls" we have Baxter our 12 year old Beagle and our kitties, Cleo (7) and Tessa (1).
Have you read our adoption policies, located under the "About DRC" tab?
Breeder, DRC
Are you aware that many doodles are not allergy friendly and that many of them do shed?
Yes
Are you aware that we do not adopt to homes with children under 10, and that we do not adopt dogs for service work?
Yes
Are you now involved in Rescue? If so, how? Are you interested in volunteering with our rescue?

Lacey's first 4th of July with us.

Posted on July 6, 2012 at 5:17pm 4 Comments

This was Lacey's first 4th of July with us and I was not sure how she would react. She is so scared of everything that I feared the worst. I didn't know if she would panic in the house or not (I definitely knew I was not going to let her outside during the "action"). We did not attended either of the fireworks shows that take place near us this year because I was too tired from a 10k race in the morning. It was an early bedtime for me so I was laying in bed when the…

Lacey update - it has been a week of break throughs.

Posted on December 2, 2011 at 7:30pm 9 Comments

What an amazing week it has been. It started last Saturday after Lacey and I came back from our morning run. DH was sitting on the couch enjoying his Saturday morning coffee when Lace trots into the room and hops on the couch with him. Granted she made sure that she did not face him or look at him, but she quietly inched her way over to him so her back end was snuggled up…

Lacey is finally done convalescing

Posted on October 22, 2011 at 1:04pm 4 Comments

Today we visited the wonderful folks at Santa Marietta Animal Hospital for one final heartworm test and to have Lacey's stitches removed from being spayed.  I am happy to say that Lacey finally has a clean bill of health.  Dr. McLean checked Lacey's heart again and no sign of the heart murmur she had we she joined us.  So the murmur was indeed the result of the heart worms.

To celebrate Lacey and I took our first out in public walk.  It was just "she and me" time.  We went to Roswell…

Confessions of a Foster Failure

Posted on September 7, 2011 at 8:00pm 15 Comments

Yup, that would be me. I know you must be thinking “OMD! It can’t be true!” Ah, but I am happy to say that it is. Miss Lacey (formerly Lucy) has officially become one of the Whitefield Pack.

This poor, stoic girl has gone through so much in her short 3.5 years. First to be born in a puppy mill and then being bred every single time she came into heat just to line this a##&)*e’s pockets. Then to add insult to injury, once the puppy miller was done with her, he/she dumped this…

Can someone please help? I tried to fill out an application, the screen went blank and I can not seem to find the app???

We are so interested in adopting Sky but do not know how to reach this organization.  Our last Lab passed Nov 2019, the other boy passed in 12/2018. Our home is lost without a best friend.  Please help if you can.

thank you so much.
