Profile Information

Where are you located?
Riverside, California
Tell us about yourself and how we might help you:
My husband and I are retired elementary school teachers in Southern California. We enjoy being empty nesters, but lucky enough to have our children and grandchildren living near enough that we see them often.
Tell us about your dog(s) and/or other pets that you have:
Our cream, apricot doodles were born on Saint Patrick's Day, 2008. One is a large mini apricot Australian Labradoodle that we named Ned, and the other is a medium apricot/cream doodle named Clancy. Our youngest doodle, Charlie, is our chocolate/white parti boy. He was born in November of 2013.
If you are looking to adopt a doodle, why have you chosen this mix?
We had two dogs and weren't looking for another, but we met a small Labradoodle when we were camping and fell in love. We immediately went on the internet and learned as much as we could about doodles and ended up with a smaller sized Australian Labradoodle that we picked because he just charmed us with his personality and antics.
Clancy had been rescued from a kill shelter where he was labeled dog-aggressive.I am so grateful that someone recognized that Clancy was afraid, not aggressive. Ned and I met him at a shelter fund raiser where he was being nicely walked (this so called aggressive boy) around a a bunch of kids and other dogs), and I was in love again.
Charlie is our youngest boy. He was a re-home through the DRC. He had been in two homes where no one fell in love with Mr. Wonderful or appreciated his cheerful, exuberant personality. He is a sweetheart who needed the right furever family and that is ours! We are so lucky to have our 3 boys.
Have you read our adoption policies?
Are you aware that many doodles are not allergy friendly and that many of them do shed?
Are you aware that we do not adopt to homes with children under 10, and that we do not adopt dogs for service work?
Are you now involved in Rescue? If so, how? Are you interested in volunteering with our rescue?
I could help with clerical or telephone tasks, and my husband and I could transport.

Thanks for the helpful information.  I am aware of the variances of non-shedding mixed breed dogs, but you were able to add some interesting and beneficial information.  I will be going over that more carefully tonight.

Concerning having a dog in my own name with vet records, our last three dogs were registered with the vet in my name, and they covered a span of nearly 30 years.  This should put your minds to rest on that count.  All my dogs were well taken care of, and I enjoyed training them.

We look forward to seeing some possible new additions to our family!

The breed mix is not a big issue, if you happen to get one that is on the small side.  I do plan to have the dog go to obedience class, but it is somewhat important that she walks well on a lead.   Thank you for your information and time

I had a dog 40 years ago, so I am knowledgeable about dogs. I also have been around friends of mine dogs.

I understand that no dog is allergy free. My daughter with allergies dies not live with me , has her own doodle and we are interested in a dog that might shed less than our Golden did. Shedding is not a deal breaker. We have had 2 Golden’s and have adapted.

I am interested in adopting a doodle even it not allegy free. I have a question about your note. You must have had a dog as an adult with a veterninary. Does that mean I have to had a dog in the past? I have cat and I can provide a veterninary records that I have take good care of the cat.

I have one more question. I see that you e included a link to fill out information about our dog if we decide to follow through with the adoption and I've already filled that form out. Have you received that?

Thank you. Yes I have contacted the breeder. She told me Jackie York of Doodle Collective was looking for a home for him and this was on 9.15.17 I haven't heard anything back from her on this. We got him from Kayla's Sheepadoodles in Spokane and didn't sign any paperwork for him as he was a gift from her since our dog before him died at age 2 from bone cancer. I'm not sure what to do about that but I have been in contact with her. I didn't ask her to take him back nor did she offer. I simply said we needed to find him a new home. This was in September. I will look at the links you have posted and send another email to the breeder. Thank you.

I not really looking for a specific type of doggie "look" as I am temperament. as far as shedding I fully understand that you will still have shedding....i have been the mom of two lab x and 1 purebred lab. my purebred chocolate lab would shed like it was his job! compared to my lab Dalmatian mix hahaha. believe me if I had the choice of having him and ALL of his massive amounts of fur with me again I would be the happiest vacuuming person on the face of hearth. it was July when we lost him and not a day goes by that we don't miss him.
with that being said if my next dog has the possibility of less shedding that would be a win Win win situation. I have found that labs and poodles have many similar traits all that I admire. I simply completed your questioner so I could look at your friends looking for loving families.

Thank you for your comment. I have filled out an application to adopt a golden doodle based in Orlando, FL. I will update my profile to clarify that I would also consider medium sized golden doodles too. I am very experienced with this breed after recently losinging my doodle due to old age. I recently moved to St. Petersburg from northern CA and will establish a new vet in the coming week.
Kind regards,

Thanks for welcoming me to DRC!  I've now filled out an application twice, but I am tech challenged and am not sure how to electronically sign the app!  Eh!  We still have our 12yr old Mastiff mix but want to be in your files when he passes to dog heaven...he seems to have a second wind!  I may try and fill out the app this weekend when my kids can explain the electronic signature..thanks  Jennifer Langefeld Illinois
