Where are you located?
Philadelphia, PA
Tell us about yourself and how we might help you:
My husband and I are the proud owners of a 2.5 year old Goldendoodle named Murdock. He is our pride an joy as we do not have children. We are a cop and a teacher and live a wonderful life. We (along with Murdock) spend our summers in Newfoundland Canada. Living the dream!!!
Do you currently own a dog? If not, have you owned dogs as an adult, with vet records in your own name (not parents' names)?
Murdock is a 2.5 year old 90 lb Goldendoodle - Big boy!!! He spends every moment with us when possible. He loves long walks, playing keep away (especially from Mommy!) and chasing squirrels (though he never catches them!) He graduated from obedience school and is off leash trained. He is a good boy for a city dog. He sleeps in bed with Mommy and Daddy until he gets too warm and hops down to the floor. He loves other dogs, children, people, just about anything that pays him attention!
Have you read our adoption policies, located under the "About DRC" tab?
We got him from a wonderful farm called Plantation Delight in West Grove, PA. We decided on the breed because it brought out the best of both breeds. He has been with us since he was 8 weeks old.
Are you now involved in Rescue? If so, how? Are you interested in volunteering with our rescue?
No, but we are interested in rescuing a Goldendoodle. We previously tried through Oodles of Doodles Rescue and met with HARSH and TERRIBLE results. We would love another doodle to be Murdock's companion as well as our forever friend!

Interestingly my husband started out planning to be a cop.  He went through the police academy, worked at the jail but decided he would rather work in probation.  Then he thought juvenile probation would be his thing.  Then he had an 'epiphany' and realized that he would rather impact children before they got into trouble, so he ended up teaching - which is where he belonged from the beginning.  I was a school secretary and when I had my daughter began working half time.  I soon realized that I could work part time as a teacher and make more money than the secretary full time, so I went back to college and completed my degree and credential.

My husband and I both were born and raised in Riverside, California and while there are several districts right around our area, we worked for Riverside Unified our whole careers.  I taught elementary first and fourth grades and in a reading lab, before switching to being a Special Ed. Resource Specialist (might be called something different in your state) where I pulled students from their regular ed. classes. My husband has taught every elementary grade,  middle school social studies, high school one-on-one for an autistic student, home/hospital, bilingual classes, opened the first elementary special day class for autistic students.  Both of us taught severely handicapped children and young adults during our summer school sessions.  Our teacher training and our personal philosophy about teaching has been sorely tested with the current plan in California and we both decided that we needed to step aside rather than become one of those 'dinosaurs' that people groan about behind their backs because they just disagree with the 'new' way things are to be done.

Thank you for the friend request.  Murdock certainly IS a big guy!  My husband and I recently retired from teaching.  We love kids, we love teaching, but are sooooo glad to be done with the stringent rules about pacing.
