Where are you located?
Solvang, CA
Tell us about yourself and how we might help you:
My husband and I live in Solvang CA. I am retired and my husband works at home. We have both owned & rescued dogs our entire lives. We have a beautiful, safe, off street, fenced yard with plenty of space for two dogs.
Tell us about your dog(s) and/or other pets that you have:
We are currently seeking two dogs, as our last dog, also a rescue, lived to the ripe old age of 16. We are looking for two young or baby females. We have always owned & loved Goldens, Labs Poodles & Bearded Collies.
If you are looking to adopt a doodle, why have you chosen this mix?
As previously stated, we have owned the breeds making up doodles and the breeds have great dispositions and fit our healthy lifestyle.
Have you read our adoption policies?
We couldn't find it, but we have a safe fenced yard, no children, and fit the criteria that we could see on your site.
Are you aware that many doodles are not allergy friendly and that many of them do shed?
Are you aware that we do not adopt to homes with children under 10, and that we do not adopt dogs for service work?
Are you now involved in Rescue? If so, how? Are you interested in volunteering with our rescue?
No. However we donate time to our local Humane Society on a regular part time basis.

Welcome to the DRC website. Unless we get a bonded pair, the doodles are rarely adopted in pairs. Young doodles would not have become a bonded pair. If you end up at a breeder, please do some research on getting litter mates as it is less successful for human bonding.

Here is a ‘must read’ article with information you should know before you apply to adopt a doodle: It includes a link to our adoption guidelines. Please read them before filling out an application to make sure that you meet them. The application itself is at the top of any page, but here is a link: The application doesn’t obligate you in any way but it opens the lines of communication with the adoption coordinator. Quite often, a new dog who comes into the program is adopted before he/she is ever listed, because our adoption coordinator is aware of a good approved applicant who would be a good match for that dog. However once you have an approved application on file, if you see a dog under the DRC’s care that you feel would be a good fit for your family, an e-mail can be sent to: stating that there is an application on file and you would like to be considered for (name of dog).

When looking at the OUR ADOPTABLE DOODLES section, the two letters in front of the dog’s name mean the state they are being fostered in. While the DRC allows out of state applicants, they cannot transport the rescues and will not let them fly, so adopters need to be within driving distance to pick the dog up.

Here is some additional information:
1. This is an interesting article that points out dog breed differences genetically, especially mixed breed dogs like doodles:
2. This is an article on what a doodle really is:
3. Here is a helpful article on how to find a doodle on Petfinder and in shelters:
4. GOOGLE shelters and humane societies within your driving range. Check their sites often.
5. There are not a lot of mini doodles in rescue so if you are looking only for a small doodle, please look at the shelters where there are often small poodle mix dogs. These dogs are often a mix of dogs that are low or non-shedding.
