- Tell us about yourself and how we might help you:
- I am a middle school teacher in a rural community. I am married with two independent children and one 17 year old daughter still at home. I love being outside.
- Do you currently own a dog? If not, have you owned dogs as an adult, with vet records in your own name (not parents' names)?
- My husband and I had two golden retrievers, Libby passed away from cancer two years ago, and we had to put our 14 year old Sadie down about a month ago. We decided to bring another puppy into our home last summer in order to help with the transition of saying goodbye to Sadie. So, Maggie entered our home. She is a beautiful, 10 month old female F1 goldendoodle. She is now the love of our lives.

- We purchased Maggie from a reputable breeder. It was apparent that he loved his dogs and made sure every dog was able to run about and play. They were romping and playing as we were looking around. I wanted a doodle because I wanted a dog who would eventually become a therapy dog. Maggie is low shedding, very friendly, extremely quick to learn, and a clown!!!
- Are you now involved in Rescue? If so, how? Are you interested in volunteering with our rescue?
- Now that I have more free time (empty nester), and my summers are free, I would really like to get involved with animal rescue. I am not sure to what degree I can be of assistance, but I really want to do something. I love to work with animals of any kind, but doodles have become my passion. My husband and I are also looking for a companion for Maggie, but I would prefer to adopt rather than go through a breeder this time.

Maggie and Fozzi are now pretty comfortable with each other. They take turns chewing on bones.......that says quite a bit. Fozzi had a rough week in the sense that he wasn't eating much and his tummy was making some strange sounds. Couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. He would eat a bit and then stop. Finally, the night before last I go upstairs to find that Fozzi had thrown up and entire sock. It wasn't even chewed up. I have no idea how he could get it down, let alone get it…

Mattie goes nuts when people come to the house--lots of jumping and running around--but not when we are out as TDI--it is a quieter situation and it is not home, so she reacts differently. Of course, i did wait until she was 4 1/2 to take her around--she has less energy now. If you can try her out at a place other than home, it may make a difference. When we trained, we did a lot of work on "say Hi"--and then made them sit quietly while we greeted people. I think she goes into that mode when we are at the facilities. It is surprising to see the different behaviors they can exhibit.
