Tell us about yourself and how we might help you:
I am originally from Utah and moved to Florida in 1998. After we adopted Brigit and Riley (as in the story below), I co-chaired a year long project to build and open a dog park here in Marathon. We also fell in love with Goldendoodles and have many Goldendoodle friends.
Do you currently own a dog? If not, have you owned dogs as an adult, with vet records in your own name (not parents' names)?
The first dog I owned was a Standard Poodle and since I had purchased and adopted a total of three females over the years. My Brother had owned three male Standard Poodles and currently lives with his handsome 5 year old St. Poodle Raleigh in Victoria BC. UPDATE: My Brother and his wife recently rescued another male Standard Poodle and can't imagine their home without the new addition. I did not own another dog after my last wonderful standard poodle passed away in 2002. Then in 2008, there was a "puppy mill" in our small little town here in the Keys and we adopted one of the Standard Poodle Moms through our local shelter who had taken in the 52 dogs from the Mill. Brigit was pregnant and two weeks after we adopted her, she had nine (9) Golden Doodle puppies. We were able to Foster all the puppies and they went to wonderful homes and we were fortunate to keep the ninth doodle puppy. He is an adorable boy named Riley who is now five years old. We also have four ferrel cats, an indoor/outdoor tuxedo cat and three cats at my husbands shop... they all adopted us. UPDATE: October of 2012, we adopted our third dog and second GoldenDoodle from Golden Retreiver South Florida Rescue. She was just over 6 months old when we got Morgan Maye O'Doodle, she had been kept in a crate and was extremely matted. Her story is that a family with many young children bought her from a puppy store and as she grew had no time for her. Morgan, with the help of Riley and Brigit has become a wonderful, well behaved dog with so much love to give. We are so happy that we decided we had room for a 3rd large dog to fill our home with more doodle joy!!!
If you are looking to adopt a doodle, why have you chosen this mix?
Because we love their temperament
Have you read our adoption policies, located under the "About DRC" tab?
Are you aware that many doodles are not allergy friendly and that many of them do shed?
Are you aware that we do not adopt to homes with children under 10, and that we do not adopt dogs for service work?
Are you now involved in Rescue? If so, how? Are you interested in volunteering with our rescue?
If we had more yard, time and space... we would adopt many doodles... but for now it's just Brigit and Riley and now Morgan Maye <3

Welcome, Cora!! I just love your avatar picture of the birthday party! My friend Jacquie and I need to have a birthday party soon for our boys, Blake and Seamus who we rescued from the same puppymill surrender in 2 different humane societies within a week of each other, well before we had ever met! It's amazing how our animals can bring people together.
