I am the former Volunteer Coordinator for Gabriel's Angels Pet Therapy, a volunteer group that uses our own dogs for animal assisted activity with abused, neglected, and at-risk children. www.GabrielsAngels.org
UPDATE: My soulmate Golden Retriever, Siena, succomed to a clotting disorder on July 29. I miss her terribly, but am actively working with my poodle/bichon/terrier/dachshund/other pooch, Barleycorn, who has passed Delta evaluation with me and we are now a registered Pet Partner pet therapy team visiting children in Medford, OR. Unfortunately, I cannot bring another pet into my family at the moment, but will keep an eye on this website.
Do you currently own a dog? If not, have you owned dogs as an adult, with vet records in your own name (not parents' names)?
My only dog is Barleycorn, poodle/bichon/terrier/dachshund/other.
Have you read our adoption policies, located under the "About DRC" tab?
I am familiar with Standard Poodles via our other therapy teams and I am familiar with labs the same way. I have owned golden retrievers for many years.
Are you now involved in Rescue? If so, how? Are you interested in volunteering with our rescue?
I am a volunteer with the Jackson County Animal Shelter as a dog walker plus other duties.

Hi, All,



I am new to the new DRC and am looking for a doodle to train as a pet therapy dog. My current therapy dog, Siena (golden retriever) is edging on 10 years old and would like to train a new friend to take her place in a year or two. We visit with abused and at-risk in the Tucson, AZ area.

I wish you the best of luck in finding your doodle. My niece lives in Tucson. We love visiting her in the spring and fall - summer, not so much. You might check nearby states for your dream doodle when you are ready.

Welcome, Art. While we rarely find doodles in shelters in Arizona, we have an AWESOME DRC director for the southwestern portion of the country in Arizona, Allison Ruckdashel. There is also a terrific member who also is a volunteer pilot for PilotsNPaws in the Tuscon area who flew Delilah from remove California to Arizona to rescue (see her picture on my photos of my webpage). There is definitely a possibility of flying the right rescue dog from a remote region to Arizona! Glad you found your way to the new page.
