Karen - I may have just lucked into a great place with Village Vets. They do a rescue also, so they may just "get it". The only a la carte option was the blood work...IV fluids and pain meds were part of it. I know (now) from Bixby's low cost neuter in TN that this is not always the case.

Frannie, that's pretty close to what the bill came to at my vet, with the take home meds. (I donated those, too, lol) But the "low cost' places would have been about $250 if you opted for IV fluids and pain meds, which of course i would have.

Hmm Frannie, I wonder if showed the Village Vets our IRS 501 (C) (3) letter they would accept us as an Atlanta rescue group. You and I are the "Atlanta Chapter" of DRC. :-D

Karen - I'm sure the FoA experiences can vary by vet. I called a few on the list and the Village Vets outfit was by FAR the nicest and most responsive, and the experience carried through the procedure. Callie's vet would have charged $295 for the neuter...and that was WITH a 20% rescue discount (this must be where she makes her money because she's very reasonable otherwise).
